[KB3318] How do I disable the firewall in ESET Cyber Security Pro?

Issue

  • Temporarily disable Network traffic filtering for troubleshooting purposes
     

Solution

Warning:

Disabling the firewall is not recommended except to diagnose/troubleshoot system problems. The steps below will disable HTTP, POP3 and IMAP scanning. This represents a potential security threat to your system.

Use the following instructions cautiously and re-enable the firewall as soon as possible.

Disable Network traffic filtering

  1. Open ESET Cyber Security Pro. How do I open my ESET product?

  2. Click SetupFirewall.

  1. Click the toggle to Network traffic filtering to disable it. At the prompt, click Disable. Firewall activity will now be suspended until you re-enable Network traffic filtering. You are now ready to troubleshoot your issue.

    Re-enable the firewall when you finished

    After troubleshooting, continue to Part II below and re-enable the firewall to ensure maximum protection.

Re-enable Network traffic filtering

  1. Open ESET Cyber Security Pro. How do I open my ESET product?

  2. Click SetupFirewall.

  3. Click the toggle to Network traffic filtering to enable it. Firewall protection is now re-enabled for your system.

  4. The New network connection detected window will open. Select your desired network from the Profile drop-down menu, select the check box next to Remember network, and click OK.
