The ESET firewall acts as a network traffic filter that regulates communication within the local network or the internet.

Using pre-defined rules, the firewall analyzes network communication and decides whether or not to allow it. You can configure your firewall to make exceptions for certain applications.

This article is part of a series of recommended steps to troubleshoot firewall issues. Start with step 1.

  1. Open the main program window of your ESET Windows product.

  2. Press the F5 key to open Advanced setup.

  3. Click ProtectionsNetwork access protection, expand Firewall and click Edit next to Rules.

  1. Type a name for the rule into the Name field. Expand Action and select the desired action.

  1. Expand Application. Click Browse (...).

  1. Navigate to the application you want to create the rule for, select the application and then click Open.

  2. Expand Direction. Select the desired direction.
