[KB2677] Why does OpenCandy trigger a threat warning?

Solution

Though ESET has removed OpenCandy bundled installers from its list of potentially unwanted applications (network communication by the OpenCandy advertising platform is no longer blocked by default), there still exists a possibility that OpenCandy will trigger a "Potential threat found" warning (see Figure 1-1) after an ESET user downloads any program bundled with OpenCandy. In these cases, click No Action three times if you would still like to download and install software containing OpenCandy.
