Push install status stays on "waiting" in ESET Remote Administrator (5.x)

Issue

  • Unable to complete a push install due to the status hanging on "waiting"
  • Problem setting up ESET Remote Administrator servers to run with administrative privileges
  • Server system drive is filling up with RAS.temp files

Solution

You will need to run the ESET Remote Administrator (ERA) service with Domain Administrator privileges to resolve this issue. To set Domain Administrator permissions for ERA, follow the instructions below:

Important!

Before proceeding, close the ESET Remote Administrator Console by clicking File Exit.

 

  1. Click StartControl PanelAdministrative Tools Services.
  1. Right-click the  ESET Remote Administrator Server service from the list and select Properties.

  1. Click the Log On tab and select This account. Enter your Domain Administrator username and password into the appropriate fields and click OK.

  1. In order for your changes to take effect you must restart the ESET Remote Administrator Service. Right-click the ESET Remote Administrator Server service and select  Restart.

  1. Attempt to run the push install again.

    Important!

    If you had any pending push installation tasks before you completed steps 1-4, you should delete those tasks before attempting another push installation.To do so, click the Remote Install tab → Install Tasks tab, right-click individual pending push installation(s) and select Delete from the context menu.
