"Your device is outdated" message displayed in the ESMC / ERA Web Console

Issue

The following message is displayed in ESET Security Management Center / ESET Remote Administrator Web Console:
  • "Your device is outdated" error message
  • "It is not guaranteed that your device remains protected with your outdated version of ESET product. Update to newer version of Endpoint Security/Antivirus to ensure full protection, see your options"

Because both ESET’s SHA-11 and SHA-256 code signing certificates are expiring in a short timespan, ESET has obtained replacement certificates to sign binaries of its Windows products. However, some versions of ESET products released before October 2017 were not ready for a certificate switch. Therefore, users of those products will need to perform an upgrade to a later product version that supports such certificate replacement.

Solution

In order to continue receiving updates after July 20, 2019, users of older ESET Endpoint products need to upgrade to a version that supports seamless certificate switch.

Affected products

ESET Endpoint Security, ESET Endpoint Antivirus

  • 6.6.0.0 - 6.6.2063.x
