Temporarily disable the startup scan in ESET Windows home products

Issue

  • System startup scan hangs or takes too long to complete

Disabling the ESET startup scan exposes your computer to risk

The following procedure is only a temporary fix to allow the resolution of a third-party application conflict. If possible, we recommend that you check for other applications that are scheduled to run at startup and either deselect their startup features or uninstall the conflicting software from your computer. ESET is unable to provide support for third-party applications.

  1. Open the main program window of your ESET Windows product.

  2. Click Tools → More tools.

  1. Click Scheduler.

  1. Deselect the check box next to System startup file check with the Launch time set as User logon (there will be multiple System startup file check tasks).

  1. Restart your computer. The startup scan is now disabled. To re-enable the startup scan, open the main program window, click ToolsMore tools → Scheduler and select the check box next to Automatic startup file check.
