Set up Anti-Theft protection in ESET Mobile Security for Android

Set up Anti-Theft protection to help you reset a lost or forgotten password

To reset a lost or forgotten ESET Mobile Security password, you will need to have Anti-Theft protection set up. You will also need to have your password available.

SMS and call services

Due to new restrictions in Google Play, the ESET Mobile Security features that require SMS and call services permissions are not available if you download ESET Mobile Security for Android from Google Play. for more information, visit our documentation.

  1. Activate premium features. Premium features must be activated before you can register your Android device on
  2. Open ESET Mobile Security for Android.
  3. Tap Anti-Theft.

  1. Tap Web Portal to activate Anti-Theft features.

  1. Tap Sign in if you have an existing account or tap Create new account if you do not have an existing account. If you have an existing account, skip to step 8.

  1. Type your first name, last name and email address in the appropriate fields and then tap Next.

  1. Type the password that you want to use for your account in the Password and Confirm Password fields, select the check box next to I agree with Terms of use and then tap Finish.

Do not lose your password

Your password is a different password than your ESET Mobile Security password. You will need this password to sign in to your account and reset your ESET Mobile Security password if your device is locked.

  1. Tap Continue in the Application permissions screen to permit Find device location and Access camera and then tap Allow in the next two screens to continue.

    If you receive the message "Screen overlay detected" after granting permissions in your ESET mobile product for Android, see our Knowledgebase article to resolve the issue.

  1. Tap Continue in the Application permissions screen to permit Screen overlay and tap OK in the next screen.

  1. Tap ESET Mobile Security and then tap the slider bar next to Permit drawing over other apps.

  1. Type a password in the New Security Password and Confirm Password fields and tap Save.

  1. Type a backup mobile phone number, and optionally, your name, email address and device description in the appropriate fields and then tap Save.

  1. Tap Next in the Uninstall protection screen and then tap Activate to allow ESET Mobile Security to act as a device administrator.

  1. Tap Finish to exit the Setup wizard.
