[KB7293] Migrate from ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server 6 to version 7

Issue

Uninstall EFSW 6 before upgrading to EFSW 7

We recommend uninstalling ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server (EFSW) 6 prior toupgrading to version 7 as installing over the existing EFSW may result in a blue screen error (BSOD).

Solution

Before you migrate from EFSW version 6:

  • Verify all Windows Updates are up-to-date(no pending updates), otherwise this might cause the migration to fail. VisitthisKnowledgebase articlefor more details.

Uninstall ESET File Security (6.x)

ESET Security Management Center (ESMC) users:Perform a Software Uninstall in ESMC

  1. Export your settingsto back up your current configuration of ESET File Security.
  2. Press the Windows key + Rto open a Rundialog.
  3. TypeAppwiz.cpl into the field and clickOK.
  4. In theUninstall or Change a programwindow, select ESET File Securityand clickChange.

  1. Click Next to proceed withuninstalling your ESET product.

  1. ClickRemove.

  1. Select a reason for uninstalling and click Next.

  1. ClickYes to restart. Your ESET product has been uninstalled.

InstallESET File Security(7.x)

ESET Security Management Center (ESMC) users:Perform a Software Install in ESMC

  1. Install and activate ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server (7.x).

  2. Import your settings to restore your configuration of ESET File Security.

  3. You have successfully migrated from EFSW version 6 to 7.
