Issue

ESET Endpoint Encryption Client and ESET Endpoint Encryption Server are separate applications from ESET Full Disk Encryption

The article below applies only to the ESET Endpoint Encryption Client or ESET Endpoint Encryption Server and not ESET Full Disk Encryption.

If ESET Endpoint Encryption Go is active on your removable media device encrypted with ESET Endpoint Encryption, you can use it on any machine—even if it does not have ESET Endpoint Encryption installed. The machine, however, cannot have ESET Full Disk Encryption installed. For more information, see possible conflicts with other ESET products.

Solution

Access your removable media device with active ESET Endpoint Encryption Go

Possible conflicts with other ESET products

A removable media device with active ESET Endpoint Encryption Go cannot be used on a machine that has ESET Full Disk Encryption installed. If ESET Full Disk Encryption is installed on the machine, the ESET Endpoint Encryption Go dialog box will not appear, and its execution file (DLPGO.exe) will not be visible.

If ESET Secure Data or ESET Endpoint Encryption is active on the machine, the corresponding dialog box will appear instead of the ESET Endpoint Encryption Go dialog box:

ESET Secure data:

To access your removable media device with active ESET Endpoint Encryption Go, follow the steps below:

  1. Connect the removable media device to the machine where you want to access it.

  2. If the ESET Endpoint Encryption Go dialog box does not appear automatically, browse to the root of the removable media device and double-click DLPGO.exe to launch the app.

  3. If the file-size limit warning appears, proceed based on whether you want to access a file larger than 47.7 MB. If it does not appear, proceed to the next step.

The warning may appear due to a Microsoft known issue for some Windows versions related to the Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) redirector, which is used by ESET Endpoint Encryption Go. For more details, refer to the following Microsoft Knowledgebase article: Folder copy error message when downloading a file that is larger than 50,000,000 bytes from a Web folder.

You do not want to access a file larger than 47.7 MB

In the dialog box with the file-size limit warning, select the Don't show again check box and click Ignore.

Maximum file size accessible with ESET Endpoint Encryption Go

The maximum file-size limit is 4 GB. The limit is imposed by the Windows WebClient service, and it is not possible to increase the value. Therefore, you will not be able to use ESET Endpoint Encryption Go to access files greater than 4 GB.

    1. In the dialog box with the file-size limit warning, click Change.

    2. In the User Account Control dialog box, click Yes.

    3. Click Restart.

Restart required after changing the file-size limit

If you do not restart the machine after changing the file-size limit, you will not be able to access files exceeding the default file-size limit.

    4. After the restart, browse to the root of the removable media device and double-click DLPGO.exe to re-launch the app.

Check the size of your removable media device with active ESET Endpoint Encryption Go on Windows

When you access a removable media device with active ESET Endpoint Encryption Go on Windows, its reported size may match the size of the operating system (OS) drive.

This occurs because ESET Endpoint Encryption Go uses the Windows Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) redirector, which incorrectly displays the size of the OS drive instead of the actual removable media device. Microsoft has classified this behavior as by design, and no workaround is currently available.

To show the correct size of your removable media device with active ESET Endpoint Encryption Go on Windows, follow the steps below:

  1. Connect the removable media device to a machine with ESET Endpoint Encryption installed.

  2. In the Windows notification area, right-click the ESET Endpoint Encryption icon.

  3. Select Removable MediaRemovable Media Encryption.
