[KB6970] Scan and remove Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) using ESET Security Management Center (7.x)

Issue

ESET business product in Limited Support status

This content applies to an ESET product version that is currently in Limited Support status and is scheduled to reach End of Life status soon.

Upgrade ESET business products.

  • Create a policy for client computers to enable detection of Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) 
  • Configure client computers to automatically remove Potentially Unwanted Applications

Solution

 Endpoint users: Perform these steps on individual client workstations

 Are you a home user? Click here for instructions to remove PUAs in ESET home products.

  1. Open ESET Security Management Center Web Console (ESMC Web Console) in your web browser and log in.

  2. Click Policies, select the policy for the clients on which you want to remove PUAs and then click PoliciesEdit.

  1. Click Settings, click Detection Engine, expand Basic and then click the slider bar next to Enable detection of potentially unwanted applicationsEnable detection of potentially unsafe applications and Enable detection of suspicious applications to select which of these application types you want to remove.

  1. Click Detection EngineMalware scans, expand On-demand scan and then select In-depth scan from the Selected profile drop-down menu. Click Finish. Your client computers will receive the policy updates the next time they check in to ESET Security Management Center.
