- Verify that the latest virus signature updates have been received
By default, ESET products check every hour for a new update and are updated at least once a day with new virus definitions and occasional program component updates.
The following procedure will allow you to check for the latest virus signature database updates in any ESET Windows home product. Older product versions may not resemble the screenshots below.
- Open ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus. How do I open my ESET product?
- Click Update. If you see Virus signature database is up to date, no update is necessary. If Virus signature database is up to date is not displayed, click Update now.
- If you have problems updating your product, press CTRL + U on your keyboard and the License details window will appear on your screen. Verify that your ESET-issued Username and Password are entered correctly and click OK. If you forgot or lost your username and password, visit our lost license page.
