This error can occur when attempting to install ESET on a system where Potentially Unsafe Applications (PUAs) are present, specifically Movie Toolbar by Bandoo. Uninstall PUAs from Control Panel → Add/Remove programs and restart your computer ( click to bookmark this article ) before you attempt to install ESET again.
If the problem persists, follow the steps below to remove registry entries that can trigger this issue:
- Press the Windows key + R, type regedit into the Open field and then click OK. Click Yes if you are prompted by Windows.
- Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE → System → CurrentControlSet → Services.

- Check for the entries F06DEFF2-5B9C-490D-910F-35D3A9119622 and F06DEFF2-5B9C-490D-910F-35D3A91196222.
- If one or both of these entries are present, open an administrative command prompt:
- Click Start (Windows 8 users: press the Windows key + Q to search for apps) and type CMD into the Search field.
- Right-click the CMD (Command prompt) in search results and select Run as Administrator from the context menu.
- Click Start (Windows 8 users: press the Windows key + Q to search for apps) and type CMD into the Search field.
- Type the command sc delete F06DEFF2-5B9C-490D-910F-35D3A9119622 and/or sc delete F06DEFF2-5B9C-490D-910F-35D3A91196222 and press Enter to remove these registry entries.
- Restart your computer and attempt to install your ESET software again. How do I uninstall or reinstall ESET Smart Security/ESET NOD32 Antivirus?
- Once you have finished installing your ESET software, open Control Panel → Add/Remove programs to uninstall any remaining PUAs.
