Solution

There are two possible solutions to resolve this error

Begin with Solution 1 and only continue to Solution 2 if the issue is not resolved.

Solution 1: Verify Username and Password in product activation

  1. Verify that you have an active internet connection. To test your internet connection, visit the ESET home page.

  2. Locate your ESET-issued Username and Password. If you do not have them, visit the Lost License page.

  3. Open ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus. How do I open my ESET product?

  4. Press CTRL + U on your keyboard.

  5. Change your Username slightly. In the example (see Figure 1-3) the Username has been changed to EAV-555555555. Click OK. Activation will fail.
